Settling into a naturopathy career with purpose and passion

Adelaide Poschelk’s non-linear path to a naturopathy degree equipped her with life experience and skills, which are now helping her natural health business to thrive.

“I bounced around, struggling with what I wanted to do. After school, I travelled for two years. Then, I started a business degree, which I didn’t love,” Adelaide said. “My family had always been into natural health, and my best friend was studying naturopathy at Endeavour and enjoying it. So, I decided to try nutrition. Soon after I started, I switched to naturopathy and knew I had found my career.”

“Studying at Endeavour was such a contrast to my previous degree. I found Endeavour settling. Although I studied a lot for my business degree, I never enjoyed it. At Endeavour, I found the study easy because I was so engaged in it.”

Adelaide started her natural health studies in Brisbane and, opting for a sea change, finished her degree on the Gold Coast. She also paused her studies to gain experience in e-commerce for YCL Jewels – an award-winning jewellery brand based on the Gold Coast.

“I am so grateful for the skills I gained working at YCL. It helped me understand and build the e-commerce side of my business, IME,” Adelaide said. “I always knew I wanted to practice as a clinical naturopath, but I wanted my naturopathic career to have multiple elements, such as practice, an e-commerce store and product development. There are so many different opportunities as a naturopath, and I’m interested in different things and enjoy the flexibility of spreading my skills across projects.

“I continued to work with YCL after I graduated, which meant I could gradually transition to devoting myself to IME full-time.”

Adelaide offers in-person and online naturopath consultations. She has a special interest in women's health, skin issues, digestive complaints and detoxification. She also has an online store connected to her business.

“Online consultations open the doors to people who can’t get to my clinic,” she said. “I can also welcome international clients who have found me through Instagram. The most rewarding thing about naturopathy is seeing the difference your treatment and care has made to your clients and how it has improved their quality of life.”

Adelaide has exciting plans on the horizon. She practices out of the Good Kind Wellness Studio, and with its owner Brooke Oke (also an Endeavour graduate), they are developing several new health and wellness products. “We have been working behind the scenes for months, and we’re very close to launching. I can’t wait to share them.”
