How Lexi Crouch won her battle with an eating disorder using natural health

future of wellness nutrition

Lexi Crouch’s experience with Anorexia Nervosa began when she was seven years old. Officially diagnosed at 13, conventional treatments did little to help Lexi overcome the eating disorder. Aged 24, she started studying Nutrition at Endeavour and found the confidence and skills to heal herself.

"I was sick and tired of being sick and tired,” Lexi said, “But I was ingrained in a pattern and it was all I knew until I came to Endeavour. Here you are encouraged to explore how you can create a great life.”

“I switched to Endeavour after getting lost in the system at a big university. Endeavour was more tailored to what I wanted to study, and it offered a more nurturing environment. Here, everyone knows you and everyone cares,” she said.

“I thank Endeavour and its holistic approach to health for helping me to get well,” Lexi said. “Conventional treatments are about the number of calories you need to stay alive. Endeavour addresses the ‘why’, and it was this deeper knowledge that helped me.”

Lexi is very open about her lived experience in the hope that it helps others. She already works in the field of eating disorders. She is a mentor for people with eating disorders and an ambassador and accomplished speaker for not-for-profit organisations, Eating Disorders Queensland and the Butterfly Foundation. “Once you know, you have to give back. When people hear my story, they always ask, ’how did you do it?’ My journey to wellness came through my studies.”

“When I started at Endeavour, my greatest challenge was that I had extreme anxiety and no self esteem,” Lexi said. “Getting in my assignments one by one helped build my confidence. The lecturers see the potential in you. Even though I didn’t believe in myself, they did. I used to get scared speaking in front of the class, and today I enjoy public speaking at events and conferences.”

After six years of study, Lexi is now in her final year. “I also became a Mum while I was studying at Endeavour,” she said. “If not for Endeavour’s flexible delivery and support, I may never have continued my studies. Nothing was an issue. Endeavour wants you to be living a life, not just studying.”

Lexi looks forward to going into clinical practice next year, but it’s just one of many exciting opportunities that are opening up for her. “After years of not feeling good, I feel great, and I’m on a mission to help as many people as possible.”
