The Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture Therapies) is an exciting new course offering that provides students with specialised skills required to become a qualified Acupuncturist. The course combines the principles and philosophy of Chinese medicine theory with Chinese manual therapy practices including acupuncture, moxibustion, Qi Gong, and Chinese remedial massage (Tui Na).

This course is the result of extensive consultation with previous students and major industry stakeholders and has been developed to ensure an optimal student experience. Part of this new teaching approach means that theoretical concepts are continuously supported with practical subjects, allowing students the opportunity to perfect their Acupuncturist skills as they learn.

Students will develop a thorough understanding of human biology functions, Chinese dietary therapy, Chinese medicine channel systems, musculoskeletal anatomy, and clinical diagnosis and consultation. In addition, students will practice and refine clinic management and decision-making skills that are instrumental to their future careers – all within the protected environment of our student clinics.

This 3-year degree focuses specifically on the practice of acupuncture and will supersede our existing Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) qualification. As this is an entirely new degree qualification, this course will first go through the same rigorous two-year accreditation process with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) that we have undertaken with all of our other successfully-accredited courses.

"The gradual approach Endeavour takes to clinical practice gives me confidence. First, we observe lecturers providing acupuncture treatment, then we work alongside senior students and then, we get to decide the treatment path. The lecturers are all practitioners themselves, and their love for the medicine shines through."

Career Outcomes

The streamlined Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture Therapies) allows students to become proficient in the practice of acupuncture and associated Chinese medicine therapies. Graduates may also pursue careers in research, education, content creation, or clinical practice.

Practitioners may practice independently as a sole trader or provide treatment in a multidisciplinary setting. Practitioners often work alongside other allied health practitioners such as medical doctors, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and naturopaths. Practitioners may choose to focus on women’s health, sports medicine, men’s health, chronic disease or other areas of interest.

Graduates are eligible to pathway directly into the Bachelor of Health Science (Chinese Medicine), as well as master degree programs in a variety of related areas.
