Whether it was divine intervention or plain luck, Jackie Morgan is immensely grateful she chose to study nutrition after finishing high school. But it was finding her niche that has led Jackie to her greatest rewards. These are Jackie’s four tips on finding your way.

Understand why you need a niche
“In nutrition, you have endless opportunities to create your own career. This is a growing market, particularly as people become more interested in their health,” Jackie says. “You cannot pursue all of the opportunities. You have to specialise.”

Focus on your story
“I’m an active person and I love food. To find my niche, I tried many diets and checked how I responded to each one. I went into nutrition because I’d seen my father benefit from pursuing natural health remedies after he had a stroke,” Jackie says. “I also had a personal interest in sorting out my health so I was open to trying new alternatives. When I brought the Ketogenic diet into my life I didn’t feel restricted, I felt great.”

Use your passion to help others
After graduating, Jackie started her own business – Well Hub Nutrition – where she dedicates herself to educating women on understanding the benefits of fat and how it can improve their health. “I’m helping women to heal their relationship with fat,” she explains.

As well as working in a clinic, Jackie has three successful e-books about the high fat, low carb diet and loves sharing recipes and lifestyle tips with her 4,000+ Instagram followers (Visit @wellhubnutrition). “Instagram has helped my business because people feel they already know me, they can see who I am and understand my niche before we meet.” 

Stay open to new opportunities
Jackie regularly creates nutrition content for Kiss the Berry (the açaí specialist food store), speaks about nutrition, runs workshops and teaches Pilates.

“Finding my niche opened up more opportunities than I ever imagined,” she says. “There are so many ways to practice outside of what a standard nutritionist does. I’m a relaxed person and I’ve found that people respond better to less formal ways of learning about nutrition – whether that’s a walking tour at the supermarket or a chat during Pilates class.”

“Nutrition took me in the direction of healing. Diet is just one component of our lifestyle and from my niche, I can see the need to expand into other aspects of healing.”
