1. Check the label
Do you love or understand the ingredients in your products? If not, drop it and find an alternative.
Do you really need lots of products? If you are using a range of chemical products, consider the accumulative chemical cocktail you are creating on your skin.
Some have been shown to mimic oestrogen and have been linked to breast cancer.
Synthetic fragrances maybe a toxic irritant. Always opt for essential oils.
Choose recyclable or biodegradable packaging as your preference, and consider the carbon footprint from every product you use.
6. Choose Organic
Organic products avoid pesticides and artificial fertilizers, they are free from preservatives and synthetic ingredients.
7. Consider the environment
Anti-bacterial agent triclosan has been found to cause pollution and disrupt hormones in aquatic life, and it is reported it passes from mothers into their breast milk.
8. Leave gasoline and oil for your car
Mineral oil has no nutrient value for your skin. Instead it can block the pores, trap dirt and bacteria and stop absorption.
9. Avoid poisons
Formaldehyde is considered to be on the scheduled poisons list and its potential health risks are being currently researched.
10. What’s is bulking your products?
If you find talc in your make-up it is just a bulking agent. Research has shown it is a carcinogen and has been linked to tumours in lungs and ovaries.
When you choose beauty products, don’t put anything on your face you wouldn’t eat. Reading the ingredients listed on your products is a good habit to get into. Not all beauty brands list their ingredients, however you are entitled to ring the company and ask questions about their ingredient list.
You can be naturally beautiful without compromising your good health. By using the right beauty products, you can enhance your natural beauty instead of covering it up with unhealthy and even dangerous chemical-laden cosmetics.
