Endeavour supports the full range and breadth of complementary medicine research as it relates to clinical practice from diverse fields including clinical, epidemiological, sociological and educational research.

The Office of Research at Endeavour College of Natural Health has a particular focus which examines issues and outcomes associated with the complementary medicine (CM) practice in Australia and where relevant throughout the world.

It was established to:

  • Support the creation of new knowledge related to CM
  • Explore the risks and benefits of CM for the broader community
  • Critically examine Endeavour's practice and activities to inform future improvements; and
  • Engage with key stakeholders within the health community and general population to examine the place and role of CM in contemporary health care.


Rebecca ReidAssociate Director Research PhD (candidate), BHSc (Nat)

Biography

In addition to leading the Office of Research at Endeavour College of Natural Health, Rebecca is one of the competitively awarded Research Fellows for the International Naturopathy Research Leadership Program conducted by the Australian Research Centre in Complementary and Integrative Medicine at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Alongside her appointment at Endeavour, Rebecca is undertaking a PhD through Australian Research Centre in Complementary and Integrative Medicine at UTS and has a current research focus on women’s health, particularly endometriosis, and the use of naturopathic care to manage the condition. Furthermore, Rebecca has a strong research interest in advancing the international naturopathic landscape though conducting rigorous and robust naturopathic research.

Dr. Janet SchlossClinical Trials Manager PhD, Post Grad Cert (Clinical Nutrition), Adv. Dip (Nat), Dip (Nut), Dip (Herbal Medicine), BHSc (Art) Office of Research Brisbane

Biography

Janet has been in private practice as a nutritionist for over 20 years and has completed her Doctorate at the School of Medicine in the University of Queensland through the Princess Alexandra Hospital.  She has also lectured at Endeavour for over 14 years and is the Clinical Trials Manager with the Office of Research. Janet’s role as the Clinical Trials Manager is to conduct rigorous and robust clinical trials within complementary medicine research. The clinical trials are conducted within the Office of Research and with external stakeholders. Janet’s main clinical and research interest is oncology, especially assisting patients undergoing medical treatment. Within her role, Janet manages and coordinates the activities of the Clinical Trials Office in the Office of Research.

Helen HeathwoodClinical Trials Nurse RN

Biography

Helen has been a registered nurse for over 35 years. She has undertaken speciality nursing care in dermatology, community, general recovery, renal and IVF fertility. In addition to her nursing, Helen has been involved with conducting clinical trials in the areas of cardiovascular, renal and cancer care. Her passion is connecting with people and passing on her skills and knowledge.

Courtney SnowResearch Ethics and Governance Administrator BBus

Biography

Courtney has an extensive executive administrative and business background through various large corporations and has an experience in secretarial roles in coordinating large Board and Committee documentation and active participation in governance matters. Courtney has additional qualifications in project management and will act as the Research Ethics and Governance Administrator to the Office of Research. In this role, Courtney will provide key secretarial responsibilities in managing the research Committees including the Human Research Ethics Committee and provide assistance to key stakeholders undertaking research at the College.

Fiona HegartyResearch Project Coordinator MPH, BNut

Biography

Within the Office of Research, Fiona is the Research Project Coordinator where she works with researchers within the team to administrate and manage research projects and clinical trials. Fiona has experience in research, project management and organisation that will support and advance the operations aspects of the Office of Research projects and trials. Fiona completed her Bachelor of Nutrition in 2015 and a Master of Public Health in 2018. As a previous Research Assistant, Fiona completed a systematic review and meta-synthesis on the impact of maternity care models on women from a refugee background, and more recently has spent time with the NSW Health Promotion Service in South-Western Sydney planning, implementing and evaluating a variety of community/population-based interventions for adults and children. Fiona also has experience in the design, delivery, and evaluation of health promotion programs in Cambodia and India.

Danielle BrownResearch Project Administrator BHSc (Nat) Office of Research

Biography

Danielle has a background in administration and project management through a career in environmental studies and is an Endeavour Honours student where she is studying the absorptions of standardised cannabis extracts of cannabidiol and tetrahydrocannabinol in patients with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Working alongside the Associate Director Research, Danielle provides a high level of administrative support to the Office of Research through coordinating research initiatives to advance research capacity and to implement administrative aspects of the research strategic objectives of the Office of Research. Additionally, Danielle is the Secretariat to the practice-based research network Practitioner Research And Collaboration Initiative (PRACI).
