The opportunity

This newly created full time, 12 month fixed term opportunity, allows for an enthusiastic, team player to join our supportive Human Resources Team at Endeavour College.

As the Cultural Competency Framework Coordinator, you will have the ability to work independently, provide advice and leadership in the development and implementation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Competency Framework.

Key responsibilities and activities of the role will include:

• Development and implementation of a college-wide cultural competency framework including policies, procedures, and all relevant guidelines and related training
• Collaborating and positively engaging with all staff and students to determine and develop supports for the cultural needs of all stakeholders including within the course content
• Act as advisor and providing direction to assist in the cultural needs of the College
• Actively promote continuous learning, training and professional development, specifically in relation to cultural awareness and processes within the college
• Researching and benchmarking to ensure that the Cultural Competency Framework aligns with the needs of the higher education and VET sectors

This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time, hybrid work model (2 days WFH) opportunity based in Brisbane.

About you

You will be an integral member of the Human Resources team, with personal experience and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander traditions and customs enabling you to provide policy advise and high quality, culturally safe and appropriate training.

The following qualifications, experience and skills will support your success in this role:

• Experience in developing and facilitating education and training programs
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• The ability to manage your time effectively and a high level of organisational skills, as well as excellent report writing and analytical skills
• A sound knowledge and understanding of both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies both historically and currently, specifically relating to any educational challenges
• The ability to sensitively consult with and articulate the interests of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples utilising the correct protocols
• Practical knowledge and experience of the national and state policies and strategies of health and culture issues

This role is designated as Indigenous Identified. Under s.25 of the Anti -Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait islander person.
