Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common functional bowel disorder with a worldwide prevalence estimated between 10-20%. It has a significant impact on quality of life and societal expense. While there are pharmaceutical options available, few can be reliably recommended. An international collaboration of naturopathic researchers are looking to observe the impact of naturopathic care on the symptoms of IBS.
The project is being conducted for two years (starting January 2018) across eleven research sites within four countries. Individuals with diagnosed irritable bowel syndrome are invited to visit the academic clinics of the educational institutions involved in the study to receive naturopathic treatment by a naturopathic student as part of their supervised clinical studies. Each individual will be enrolled in the study for three months of treatment. More details about participation can be found on the Participant Information Sheet here (insert PIF).
