The mission of the Aurum Project is to advance the understanding and practice of homeopathy in Australia by promoting and conducting research into the use of homeopathic medicines for childhood health and behavioural problems. Endeavour College is proud to support this charitable institution that undertakes important work in the advancement and recognition of the homeopathic industry.
The Aurum Project aims to promote and develop research in the homeopathic profession and enable a pathway for homeopathic researchers. The Project plans to make the information gathered from research available to the homeopathic profession and the public. As well as validating homeopathy as a viable form of primary health care, their aim is to ensure the results of the research enable parents to confidently consider this method of health care for their child.
The Aurum Project is the first homeopathy charity to be registered in Australia, setting a special precedent in recognising the appropriateness of holistic research. In response to the rising incidence of children’s behavioural disorders and the increasing number of parents asking for help, the Aurum Project was developed to promote education and research on homeopathic treatment for children. Dealing with behavioural issues stemming from emotional or physical causes, the range of health problems they target include ADHD, allergies, asthma, ear problems, eczema, fever, sleeping problems, tantrums, teething, tics and twitches.
Anyone with an interest in the field of homeopathy is invited to subscribe to the Aurum Project email list.
An independent consumer survey revealed that despite the first major health organisation warning of a possible link between mobile phone use and cancer in May, 70% of respondents continue to ignore key pieces of health advice about safe mobile phone use.
“The survey showed 70% of respondents refuse to regularly use a hands-free device or loudspeaker when talking on their mobile phones which dramatically reduces radiation exposure,” said Canstar Blue Manager Rebecca Logan.
The WHO placed mobile phones in the same category as insecticide DDT and petrol engine exhaust when it came to a possible link to cancer.
“Surprisingly, our survey also showed a mere 15% of men follow expert advice to avoid carrying their mobile phone next to their bodies to reduce radiation exposure, compared to 32% of women.”
“It was also concerning to see 15% of respondents allowed family members 12 years or under to use a mobile phone, despite health warnings against this given children are far more vulnerable to radiation damage.”
"These figures are surprisingly high, particularly given the thousands of media articles generated worldwide following the World Health Organisation warning on 31 May 2011 about mobile phone use possibly contributing to cancer," said Director of Education at Endeavour College of Natural Health, Dr Nick Vardaxis.
"I'd urge people to ensure they are taking steps to protect themselves from radiation exposure by keeping mobile phones away from their bodies where possible as a preventative health measure. Further research will clarify fully the possible ill-effects of radiation generated by the use of mobile phones."
Rebecca Logan said on the positive side, the survey also painted a clear picture of what the mobile phone plan providers are doing to meet the needs of its customers.
“The clear message is TPG is far ahead of its competitors in all categories, with customers of the Australian IT company most satisfied when it comes to overall satisfaction, price, service, service reliability, accessibility of plan provider, plan availability and billing,” said Ms Logan.
Vodafone scored lowest with its customers in the categories of overall satisfaction, service and service reliability.
Canstar Blue, a new initiative of CANSTAR CANNEX, commissions Colmar Brunton to survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. TPG today received the Most Satisfied Customers Award for Mobile Phone Plans.
The outcomes reported are the results from mobile phone plan customers within the survey group. To qualify, the customer has to have an mobile phone plan and pay the bills.
“We launched Canstar Blue to give Australians a free online resource to help them with their key purchasing decisions by making it simple for them to learn from the experiences of other consumers. It is essentially a guide to product excellence as voted by customers,” Ms Logan said.
The independent survey was undertaken in conjunction with professional market researchers, Colmar Brunton.

An independent consumer survey today revealed the length to which Australians rely on prescription medication, with 52% of respondents buying or refilling the products more than 12 times a year.
“We were surprised by the high level of prescription medication use shown by the survey. Interestingly, we saw males were more likely (52%) to buy or refill their prescriptions more than 12 times a year than females (48%),” said CANSTAR CANNEX’s Head of Research Steve Mickenbecker.
“Not surprisingly, baby boomer respondents were the generation most likely to use prescription medication at this level (64%). However, a significant percentage of the younger generations were also frequent users of prescription medication, with 35% of Generation Y respondents and 39% of Generation X respondents buying or refilling prescription medication more than 12 times a year.”
This follows a study released recently by Pfizer which showed less than a third of people adopt other healthy habits when taking prescription medication to manage their health condition.
Endeavour College of Health Director of Education Nick Vardaxis said too many Australians depend soley on medication to solve their health issues.
“Prescription medication has a strong place in the health equation, but Australians should also consider how much diet and exercise can help alleviate, and sometimes cure, their symptoms,” said Dr Vardaxis.
The Canstar Blue survey showed 1 in 10 Australians surveyed have experienced an adverse reaction to prescription medication in the past 12 months.
“This is a significant health issue, with an estimated 200,000 hospital admissions in Australia each year attributed to prescription medication,” said Mr Mickenbecker.
The results showed 13% of Australians surveyed buy a portion of their pharmacy products online. Generation Y respondents were significantly more likely (19%) to buy online than those from any other generation.
A tiny 3% of respondents buy all their pharmacy products online.
The independent Canstar Blue consumer satisfaction survey also revealed pharmacy brand Chemmart beat its competitors by coming out on top with most satisfied customers.
Customers scored Chemmart top marks for the categories of overall satisfaction, service, range, availability of pharmacists and advice provided. Chemist Warehouse was voted top by its customers for price.
Canstar Blue, a new initiative of CANSTAR CANNEX, commissions Colmar Brunton to survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. Chemmart today received the Most Satisfied Customers Award for Pharmacies.
The outcomes reported are the results from pharmacy customers within the survey group. To qualify, the customer has to have purchased from the pharmacy within the last 12 months.
“We launched Canstar Blue to give Australians a free online resource to help them with their key purchasing decisions by making it simple for them to learn from the experiences of other consumers. It is essentially a guide to product excellence as voted by customers,” Mr Mickenbecker said.

A consumer survey today revealed 6 in 10 Australians regularly risk noise-related hearing damage, and even loss, by ignoring health warnings to wear hearing protection when mowing their lawn.
The first lawn mower survey by independent consumer ratings agency Canstar Blue showed a concerning 58% of Australians surveyed choose not to wear ear plugs or ear muffs when using their lawn mower.
“The results show the Baby Boomer generation are the most likely to risk noise-induced hearing loss, with 60% not wearing hearing protection compared to 59% of Generation X and 48% of Generation Y respondents. This is particularly concerning given the Baby Boomer generation are more vulnerable to hearing damage because of their age,” said CANSTAR CANNEX’s Head of Research Steve Mickenbecker.
“These findings are particularly concerning as permanent hearing damage can occur after only one hour of unprotected exposure to noise this loud. This type of neglect can result in permanent hearing loss when you consider most Australians mow their lawn once every week or so,” said Endeavour College of Natural Health Director of Education Dr Nicholas Vardaxis.
“This type of damage is entirely preventable and there is no excuse. Australians need to be more vigilant and make sure they are using ear plugs or ear muffs each and every time they mow the lawn. They should also take a break every 15 minutes to reduce the length of their noise exposure.”
The Canstar Blue survey also revealed Honda beat its competitors by coming out on top with most satisfied lawn mower customers, winning over leading brands Masport, Rover and Victa.
“Honda is the clear winner in the eyes of its customers, taking out the prize in the categories of overall satisfaction, reliability and performance, ease of start, maintenance and servicing, quality of grass cut and after sale service and warranty,” Mr Mickenbecker said.
Rover was voted number one by its customers for price.
Canstar Blue, an initiative of CANSTAR CANNEX, commissions Colmar Brunton to survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. Honda today received the Most Satisfied Customers Award for Lawn mowers.

Over the last 2 years the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne has been host to a large scale clinical trial in its cardio-thoracic surgery ward, utilising Endeavour massage and MST students. The study used massage as an intervention to investigate the effects on pain, anxiety and tension and effects on blood pressure, heart rate and respiratory rate on post-surgical cardio-thoracic patients.
The research project was completed at the end of 2010 and research findings indicated positively that massage was of great benefit in reducing levels of pain, anxiety and tension. The research will be published in 2011, and represents the largest massage study to ever have been completed in Australia and one of the largest massage studies completed internationally.
The positive results prompted the Alfred to offer us a permanent position on the cardio-thoracic ward to ensure year-round availability of a post-surgical recovery program. The program is being staffed by Endeavour MST students during semester, and qualified graduates during winter and summer periods. The clinic is the first of its kind in Australia, and represents an amazing milestone for MST, Endeavour, and the future of integrative medicine in this country.

Anne gave an exceptional presentation covering key aspects of personal brand creation, a highly relevant area for all independent health care practitioners. The 30-plus alumni in attendance engaged in discussion with Anne, as well as networking with each other following the presentation. All were very impressed with the content and delivery of the seminar, and provided some excellent suggestions for future seminar topics and themes.
Anne Gately also presented in Brisbane, providing their second professional seminar for the year, following the highly successful presentation by acupuncturist and alumnus Rod Martin earlier this year in February. Rod will be taking his presentation on the road later this year, with dates to be scheduled in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. Feedback from alumni has been very positive and affirming the new direction of Endeavour’s alumni program. See you at the next event, our first Practitioner Networking Night in May!
A consumer survey today revealed almost one in five Australian men surveyed drink six or more cups of coffee daily, containing double the amount of caffeine most health experts deem safe.
The first coffee machine survey by independent consumer ratings agency Canstar Blue also showed a concerning 14% of Australian females surveyed drank six of more cups of coffee a day.
“The results show the Baby Boomer generation is most likely to drink six or more cups of coffee a day (18%). South Australians were revealed as having the biggest caffeine habit, with 23% of residents surveyed drinking six or more cups a day. This is more than double the number of Queenslanders in this category (11%),” said CANSTAR CANNEX’s Head of Research Steve Mickenbecker.
“These results are alarming from a health perspective. While moderate amounts of caffeine have been shown to reduce headaches and protect against diabetes, Alzheimer’s and heart disease, the caffeine levels contained in six or more cups of coffee is a different story,” said naturopath expert from Endeavour College of Natural Health David Stelfox.
“This level of caffeine consumption could result in drinkers developing conditions including insomnia, restlessness, irritability, stomach upset, high blood pressure, fast heart beat and muscle tremors.
There is nothing wrong with enjoying coffee regularly, but anything more than three cups a day is too much.”
The Canstar Blue consumer satisfaction survey revealed Nestlé Nespresso beat its competitors by coming out on top with most satisfied coffee machine customers, winning over leading brands including Saeco, DeLonghi, Breville and Sunbeam.
“Nestlé Espresso is the clear winner in the eyes of its customers, taking out the prize in the categories of overall satisfaction, reliability, ease of use, maintenance, design and after-sale service,” Mr Mickenbecker said.
Nestlé Espresso tied first place with Saeco in the category of ‘makes good coffee’. Sunbeam was voted number one by its customers for price.
The survey also showed 19% of Australians surveyed spent more than $1000 on their coffee machine.
Canstar Blue, a new initiative of CANSTAR CANNEX, commissions Colmar Brunton to survey 2,500 Australian consumers across a range of categories every few months to measure and track customer satisfaction. Nestlé Nespresso today received the Most Satisfied Customers Award for coffee machines.
The outcomes reported are the results from those who had bought a domestic capsule, automatic or manual coffee machine in the last 3 years within the survey group.
“We launched Canstar Blue to give Australians a free online resource to help them with their key purchasing decisions by making it simple for them to learn from the experiences of other consumers. It is essentially a guide to product excellence as voted by customers,” Mr Mickenbecker said.

Yesterday, Melbourne Campus hosted a fascinating seminar by Associate Professor Andrew Stranieri on the topic of Health Informatics – the applications of IT and technology to the Health industry.
Dr Stranieri is the Deputy Director of the Centre for Informatics and Applied Optimisation at the University of Ballarat. He is part of a team of 50 researchers, with his particular interest being the impact of globalization and technology on the health industry, and in particular, finding solutions to facilitate the effective coexistence of orthodox and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).
"Whilst technology has transformed every aspect of our lives, the medical world, I believe erroneously, is looking to technology to solve its problems", said Dr Stranieri. He described many examples of wonderful uses of technology and information in improving health training and services, but also addressed the pressing question for us – where will CAM fit in to this new eHealth frontier? And where could CAM solve problems that technology can't?

Dr Stranieri has approached Endeavour to partner with his research team and assist answer some important questions for our industry. How can technology help create and support an environment where all systems can co-exist as diverse but equally regarded practices? How can the health language barrier be overcome to make common record keeping possible and effective? In this new health climate of many treatment options, how can technology help patients decide which path to pursue?
Another interesting element of Dr Stranieri's work is examining the effect of technology on research, in our case, in clinical health trials. Randomised controlled trials are still the gold standard of evidence-based practice, even though "other sciences have abandoned the methodology as a blunt instrument that can only uncover gross truths". Through modern data analysis, research can be performed within CAM parameters that allows for multiple variables to be tested concurrently. This new methodology is far more complementary to CAM prescribing methodology and will help science evolve us past the methodological errors that have plagued CAM research to date.
After such an exciting and stimulating presentation, Endeavour is looking forward to its continued relationship with Ballarat University and Dr Stranieri's research team. Together we can work toward equitable coexistence between the diverse medical systems both here in Australia, and globally.
Melbourne campus is currently hosting a group of 21 Korean students on a study tour in Australia. The students from Soonchunhyang University in Korea study a variety of biomedical disciplines including nursing, pre-medicine, and biotechnology. This study tour follows the highly successful visit from Soonchunhyang students in February last year. Their tailored study program includes 8 days of intensive workshops covering Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine, Biomedical Pathology Test Interpretation, and Nutrition.
The aim of the program is to inform these students future health and medical practice in a more holistic framework. Students from last year's study tour have reported that the experience broadened their understanding of health and healing, and opened their minds to integrate their biomedical knowledge with the complementary perspective presented by Endeavour.

The students are treated to a variety of academic presenters including Director of Education Dr Nick Vardaxis; international Homeopathy expert Dr Isaac Golden; Naturopath, Nutritionist and Homeopath Spero Tsindos; Naturopathic clinical and academic mentor Anne Howard, and Homeopathic clinician and education specialist Valerie Probert.
Endeavour also hosted a special luncheon for the group featuring a presentation by Yugeun Choi, CEO and publisher of The Korean Weekly magazine. Mr Choi provided a useful insight into Australian and Korean cultural differences, and his own experience as a migrant.
But it's not all work and no play! Whilst in Melbourne these students will also enjoy some free time including a trip along the Great Ocean Road, a tour of Melbourne University, and exploration of Australia's diverse cuisine in a number of Melbourne's well-known restaurant hot-spots.
Soonchunhyang University hopes to continue their academic partnership with Endeavour that has been in place since 2009. Since that time, Endeavour has forged further formal academic partnerships with universities in Malaysia, Greece, China and Cuba. Endeavour hopes to continue providing these sorts of academic exchanges to facilitate discussion and promote the integration of medical and complementary philosophies into healthcare practice worldwide.

The aftermath of the floods are being felt in Brisbane as staff settle back into work on the Endeavour and Fitnation Campuses.
Given the major issues with infrastructure in Brisbane City, services were routed out of the central business district during the cleanup which continues in many parts of Brisbane.
The College's major internet service provider has confirmed that there were service disruptions throughout the period, which in turn affected IT systems.
"We predicted this may happen given the scope of the flooding event and posted messages to staff and on our public website throughout last week warning of possible disruptions," said Carolyn Barker, Chief Executive Officer of the Endeavour Learning Group.
"Staff and students are well aware that there have been problems with our IT systems, resulting in Australia Wide disruptions to our network with affects to the Student E-Portal the Student Management System and Endeavour's public website.
"I'd like to personally thank the wider Endeavour family for the leadership they have showed personally during this time."
Today at 9.20am, the following services were returned: internet access, "national shared" and for a while the remote server which is down again at the writing of this update.
"We expect remote server access to be available in the next couples of hours. With regards to the Student Management System, reports are that this is currently operational," Ms Barker said.
"Our IT Manager, Craig Gibson, has worked tirelessly to monitor the IT Systems throughout this period and was at work last night for over 7 hours addressing the issues. Additional Systems Engineers were also brought in this morning, and together both parties worked to get this up and running."
"We continue to assure students and the wider public that the campuses have not been physically affected as we have had many offers to help in the cleanup – which luckily will not be necessary."
To date Endeavour is aware of at least three staff members who have either completely lost their homes or have been partially flooded and are still without power and the College is working with each of these cases on an individual basis.
"Endeavour, as an Australia wide business is dependent on the Brisbane office for many of its support services and while it may not be evident in other parts of Australia there is still much to be done so please remain patient as we move towards full service recovery," Ms Barker said.

The natural health industry is rapidly growing with IBIS World placing natural health in the top five growth industries in Australia, and recent Roy Morgan data showing the number of Australians using alternative health services has grown by 40% over the last ten years. As a result natural health education is developing as fast as the industry is growing.
"The big trend in natural health education is the shift from Vocational Education and Training to a Higher Education focus, with Bachelor of Health Science degree qualifications becoming the gold standard. Tighter industry regulations and the prevalence of accredited degree courses available, means students are opting for a higher level of educational qualifications and in turn employers are expecting this." Says Dr Nick Vardaxis, Director of Education, Endeavour College of Natural Health.
The days of natural therapies being deemed as just for hippies are long gone. Societies interest in 'wellbeing' as a way of life is now mainstream, with a large number of products and services widely available.
"Increased acceptance of the industry is driving growth," says Dr Nick Vardaxis. "The rise in polyclinics where natural health services are available alongside conventional medicine and recognition of natural health services as part of many private health policies are excellent examples of this."
The new industry degree 'gold standard' is good news as it ensures the standard of practitioners is very high. Bachelor of Health Science degrees in natural health undergo rigorous accreditation procedures as any other Bachelor degree would. Graduates are educated in anatomy, physiology and other biosciences plus clinical sciences, thus learning to communicate in the same language as medical doctors so they can work together in a truly integrative way. They are also taught the business skills required to run and manage a practice.
While it remains true that natural health is a popular career choice for women in their 20's and 30's, Endeavour are also experiencing an increasing number of males and school leavers choosing to study in this field.
"This increase reflects both the increased community acceptance of natural health and the growing career opportunities available. Males and females of all ages are realising the work life balance benefits of a career in natural health and how rewarding it can be," says Dr Nick Vardaxis.
Endeavour College of Natural Health has campuses nationwide. For further information on a career in natural health please contact an Endeavour enrollment advisor 1300 462 887 or explore the courses online.
Endeavour Learning Group Brings Complementary Medicine to the Forefront

John Feenie, Executive Chairman of the Endeavour Learning Group, addresses the audience of business, government and representatives from complementary and orthodox medicine
The Endeavour Learning Group (ELG) brought together experts from traditional and complementary medicine at its inaugural annual dinner held in Adelaide recently to open dialogue about the future of wellbeing in Australia and internationally. Guests included David Pisoni, Shadow Minister for Education and Employment Training and Further Education and keynote speaker, Tim Jarvis, famed environmental scientist and explorer.

Catherine Turnbull, Chief Allied, Scientific and Complementary Health Advisor to SA Health leads a discussion about the future of wellbeing
Catherine Turnbull, Chief Allied, Scientific and Complementary Health Advisor to the South Australian Government led an expert panel discussion on the broad benefits of incorporating complementary medicine into mainstream approaches to healthcare. She joined with Dr Anne Van Loon, senior research fellow with the University of South Australia and David Stelfox, leading natural health practitioner and educator to discuss the "Future of Wellbeing" from different perspectives.
The natural health industry is rapidly growing with IBIS World placing natural health in the top five growth industries in Australia, and recent Roy Morgan data showing the number of Australians using alternative health services has grown by 40% over the last ten years. An August 2010 study commissioned by the National Institute of Complementary Medicine into the cost effectiveness of complementary medicine in Australia has found millions in healthcare costs could be saved without compromising patient outcomes if complementary medicine is more widely used.
ELG is the largest specialist provider of complementary medicine, fitness and beauty education in the southern hemisphere through the Endeavour College of Natural Health, Fitnation and the College of Natural Beauty.
The Endeavour College of Natural Health has graduated thousands of practitioners in the areas of Naturopathy, Nutritional Medicine, Musculoskeletal Therapy, Acupuncture, Homeopathy and Western Herbal Medicine and promotes the philosophy and practice of Natural Medicine globally.

He has worked since 1985 to research homoeoprophylaxis and publish the results to provide facts to parents (see www.homstudy.net).
APERN is an emergency response network for qualified therapists who are willing to volunteer their skills to support others during times of emergency. It operates under the umbrella of ‘Hands on Health’ and was established in February 2009 in response to the Victorian Bush fires.
Therapists from many different modalities willingly volunteered their services during the crisis to support the emergency service personnel and people affected by the fires offering free massage, reflexology, chiropractic and other treatments.
The committee of APERN would like to formally thank everyone for their generosity and involvement at this time, and to let practitioners know policies and procedures for the ongoing advancement of the emergency response network are currently being developed.
The role of APERN in response to the bush fires has now finished, however many residents in the affected fire regions still require assistance and support. Several programs are currently being established under Hands on Health in consultation with the local communities.

Degree Qualifications in natural health now a reality; a first for South Australia. Endeavour College of Natural Health today announced the launch of two Bachelor Degree programs in natural medicine for South Australia, thereby creating a pathway for students who until now have had to travel interstate for such an award. The Bachelor of Health Science degrees in Naturopathy and Acupuncture were developed by Endeavour College in response to health sector demand for professionals with higher levels of education and are designed to produce graduates with cutting edge skills and experience in holistic health. Students of the BHSc (Acupuncture) degree will have a unique opportunity to undertake part of their studies in China while students of the BHSc (Naturopathy) degree will carry out more research and clinical practise than has previously been undertaken in diploma programs.
"We are very proud to have had our degrees in naturopathy and acupuncture approved for delivery at our Adelaide campus by the Hon Michael O’Brien MP; Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education” said John Feenie, Executive Chairman of Endeavour College.
“We intend to ensure that we meet and exceed the high standard of education expected of us.” Kevin Watkins, Director of Operations-SA believes “This is a monumental occasion for the natural medicine industry in Adelaide and SA as a whole. To have face-to-face delivery of degrees in naturopathy and acupuncture will prepare graduates for the ever increasing demand for complementary medicine services.”
The two programs rolled out at the beginning of August 2009. Students have access to FEE-HELP making the opportunity for changing career more of a reality.

Australia’s Leading Provider of Natural Health and Fitness Education Celebrates Launch of Adelaide Campus
Endeavour College of Natural Health’s recent amalgamation with South Australian Health Education Centre (SAHEC) in Adelaide has enabled Endeavour to become a truly national organization for the first time. Together with Adelaide, Endeavour College now has campuses across Australia in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Across the Tasman, Endeavour College is represented in New Zealand in Auckland, Tauranga and Christchurch.
Until now SAHEC has been recognised as one of South Australia’s leading providers of natural health education, limited only by the inability to offer Bachelor Degree programs in natural health, which has resulted in students being forced to move interstate to continue their studies.
The former owner of SAHEC, Mr Kevin Watkins, is the new Director of Operations for the Adelaide campus, believes that joining forces with Endeavour College will lead to increased resources for students and ongoing development opportunities for the State's health education sector.
Executive Chairman of Endeavour College, Mr John Feenie considers that “SAHEC’s 26-year track-record as a quality education provider in natural therapies in Adelaide provides a perfect fit with Endeavour’s vision to increase opportunities for natural medicine practitioners and fitness professionals nationally, and is excited by the positive opportunities this amalgamation will offer students of South Australia.”
This function tonight is to celebrate the reputation built by SAHEC, and the start of delivering on Endeavour’s vision in health and fitness education in South Australia.

Therapists, Students, Industry Associations and RTO’s around Victoria are contacting Endeavour College to find out how they can assist in the Victorian Bushfire Crisis.
As a result the Australian Practitioners Emergency Response Network (APERN) has been created operating under Hands on Health, to provide short tactile treatments to the emergency service personnel.
Peter Downes of the VFBV (Volunteer fire brigades Victoria) the volunteer body of the CFA is working closely with APERN to help determine the requirements of the CFA emergency personnel and has suggested that in order to manage the situation, therapists should be registered with APERN.
Qualified Massage, Chiropractic, Osteopathic and Reflexology practitioners are urgently required but must receive full briefing and instructions prior to working in the emergency response area.
This will be available as follows:
Practitioners can then register with APERN and be deployed to the locations affected. All deployment locations are safe for practitioners and away from the immediate threat of fire.
Assistance is most required at the change over of shifts – (5am – 9am) and (8pm – midnight).
If you are unable to attend the briefing at Endeavour College please call Kallika Bruce, Volunteer Coordinator Tel: 0402 733 443 to arrange a suitable time to be briefed at Whittlesea.
APERN is also requiring the following equipment / support
• Telecommunication support – a manned landline phone would be perfect
• Laptops & Wireless internet access
• Financial assistance for mobile phone credit for the volunteer coordinators on site
• Orange vests for therapists to wear
• Signage
• Seated massage chairs and massage tables
• Admin support
• Office supplies
• Towels
If you are able to assist with any of these requirements or would like to register with APERN please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
*Please note qualified therapists of all modalities are invited to register with APERN, however only tactile therapists are required for the emergency response sites at this stage.
The needs and requirements for those who have experienced significant loss and experienced the fires first hand are vastly different to those of the emergency service personnel, therefore separate teams will be organized to assist them.
