Naturopathy is a holistic system of primary health care, emphasising treatment, prevention and promotion of optimum health, which encourages the body's self-healing process. Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health and well-being and considers the physical, mental and emotional aspects of health and disease, addresses the causes and contributing factors. Naturopaths draw on traditional and clinically-proven treatment methods such as nutrition, homoeopathy, massage and herbal medicine. The curriculum provides a foundation of naturopathic philosophy and principles, as well as evidence-based naturopathic health assessment and therapeutics. Students also study anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, pathology and pharmacology. Students gain practical knowledge in the Public Student Clinic under the supervision of qualified practitioners. This provides a vital opportunity to learn how to treat and manage clients and cases prior to graduation. Students must obtain a current Senior First Aid Certificate.
